Money Donated to The Tree House by WBCT

Published on: May 20, 2013

Winder-Barrow Community Theatre recently presented a check for $365 to The Tree House, a non-profit organization that serves abused children. The photo shows Becky Lee, Director of The Tree House; Tery Overbey, President of Winder-Barrow Community Theatre; and Christina Thompson, the Office Manager for The Tree House.

This money was donated as a part of the WBCT program where a portion of the proceeds of each show is given to a local non-profit group. In order to raise extra money for The Tree House, the cast members brought cupcakes that were sold during intermission at each show. The money from the sale of the cupcakes in addition to monetary donations from the audience members was added to the amount donated by WBCT.

The Tree House works to provide help for child abuse victims in Barrow, Banks and Jackson Counties. Last year The Tree House provided over 6000 advocacy and crisis counseling services to approximately 392 victims of child sexual and physical abuse. Over 3000 parent education and support services were extended to over 829 children and families.
