Auditions Announced for "Cotton Patch Gospel"

Published on: May 31, 2013

Winder-Barrow Community Theatre has announced the audition dates for their upcoming production of “Cotton Patch Gospel”. This musical by Tom Key and Russell Treyz has music and lyrics written by Harry Chapin just before his death in 1981. Based on the book The Cotton Patch Version of Matthew and John by Clarence Jordan, the story retells the life of Jesus as if in modern day rural Georgia. This is a southern reinterpretation of the gospel story.

Auditions will be held at the Winder Cultural Arts Center at 105 E Athens Street in Winder on Sunday, June 9th at 7:00 pm and on Monday, June 10th at 7:00 pm. The cast requirements are for men and women ages 20 to 75 who can sing and act. Musicians who can play the piano, guitar, banjo, fiddle, mandolin, and bass are also needed. The audition will be a cold reading from the script as well as singing a song from the show after a short musical rehearsal. Please bring a recent photo and a list of any conflicts with the summer rehearsal schedule. Rehearsals are normally scheduled for Monday, Tuesday and Thursday nights until Tech Week starting on July 29th. Show dates are August 2-4 and 9-11.
