"Cotton Patch Gospel" Cast Announced

Published on: July 19, 2013

Winder-Barrow Community Theatre is proud to announce the cast of “Cotton Patch Gospel”, the third show of the 2013 Main Stage Season. “Cotton Patch Gospel” was written by Tom Key and Russell Treyz and has music and lyrics written by Harry Chapin. This wonderful musical is based on the book “The Cotton Patch Version of Matthew and John” by Clarence Jordan and retells the story of the life of Jesus as if he had been born in Georgia in the 1960s. How would the people of more modern times have responded to the life and miracles of Jesus? With the help of the Weber Family Bluegrass Band, the music will keep your toes tapping as you enjoy this age old story told in a new way with Matthew narrating the show.

Tickets for “Cotton Patch Gospel” are now available, and you are urged to purchase your tickets early since many Sunday School Classes and Church groups are already buying their tickets. Show dates are August 2-4 and 9-11 with Friday & Saturday shows at 7:30 pm and Sunday shows at 3:00 pm. Seniors, students and teachers are $10 in advance while adults are $12.50 in advance. If you have a group of 10 or more, you will get the senior rate ($10) regardless of age. Tickets can be purchased at Winder City Hall (770-867-3106) with credit cards, cash and checks. They can also be purchased at Pam Veader’s State Farm Insurance Office at 41 S. Center Street in Winder (770-867-1679) with cash or checks. If there are any tickets available at the door, they will be $13 for seniors, students, and teachers and $15 for adults.

WBCT has a program where a portion of the proceeds of each show are donated to a local non-profit group. The beneficiary of this show will be The Peace Place which is a shelter for battered women and children. Peace Place also offers many other programs for the local community.
