Published on: September 24, 2010

Winder-Barrow Community Theatre is proud to announce the final show of the 2010 Main Stage Season. “The Haunting of Hill House” by Shirley Jackson and F. Andrew Leslie will be performed on October 29 to 31 and November 5 to 7 at the Colleen O. Williams Theater in Winder. Friday and Saturday shows start at 7:30 pm, and the Sunday matinees start at 3:00 pm. Tickets can be purchased by credit card at Winder City Hall at 770-867-3106 (a $3.00 service fee applies for phone orders) or with cash or check at Pam Veader’s State Farm Insurance Office at 41 S. Center Street in Winder (770-867-1679). Seniors, teachers and students are $10.00 in advance and adults are $12.50 in advance.
This show, directed by Terri Duffield, is perfect for a Halloween treat so come prepared to be scared. Hill House is a vacant house in a very remote location that is shunned by all who know its sinister reputation. The present owner leases the house to Dr. Montague, an investigator of supernatural phenomena, so that he and several other people that he invites to join him can delve into the morbid history of the house and come to grips with the occult forces that have made it uninhabitable for many years. During their stay their sensibilities are soon jolted by strange and eerie occurrences. Subsequent events bring on a crisis with the evil forces of Hill House.
The Barrow County Museum will be the recipient of the WBCT ongoing program of donating a portion of their ticket income to a local nonprofit group. Make sure that you buy your tickets early in order to get the advance ticket price.
WBCT is also announcing auditions for the upcoming Christmas show, “Fruitcakes”. Auditions will be held on Saturday, October 9th at 11:00 am and on Sunday, October 10th at 6:00 pm. The cast requires children ages 5 to 18, six men ages 35 to 60, and six women ages 35 to 70. The show will be performed the first weekend of December. Auditions do not require any prepared material so just show up at one of the audition dates.
