WBCT Donates to the Piedmont Rape Crisis Center

Winder-Barrow Community Theatre recenetly donated money to the Piedmont Rape Crisis Center as a part of their continuing program of Community Service to local nonprofits. This donation came from the production of “Terror By Gaslight” which closed on Novem ber 6th. The Piedmont Rape Crisis Center’s mission is to end sexual assault through empowering adult sexual assault victims into survivors through advocacy, support, community awareness, and education in Barrow, Jackson and Banks Counties. According to Susan Cash, the director of the Center, the center worked with over 75 victims during 2010, and the 2011 year is on track for reaching that many again.

The Rape Crisis Center provides numerous services for survivors of sexual violence and their families including crisis counseling, sexual assault exam accompaniment, personal advocacy, victim compensation information and assistance, criminal justice support, information and referrals, legal advocacy and follow-up.
